Via Lingua International is proud to announce a new
educational partnership with the American Language Institute
at San Diego State University. The ALI has been training
teachers of English (EFL/ESL) since 1981, and is recognized
worldwide by language schools, universities, ministries of
education, governmental bodies, and top educational
organizations. Two teacher training programs are currently
offered: TEFL Seminar and TEFL Certification Programs. Both
of these are endorsed as valid by Via Lingua International.
Via Lingua International recognizes the ALI as a strategic
partner in the TESL-TEFL training field and works closely
with it to create and share ideas in training curriculum and
assisting teaching graduates in finding positions in the US

St. Michael's College
The TESOL programs are for people who want to teach English
to non-native speakers in the United States or in other
countries. Courses for the TESOL Program are offered
throughout the year, including summer, and are held during
late afternoon and evening hours during the academic, so
that working professionals can also take classes or
partially online track (2 summers on campus + 3 online
courses) is also available.
The program may be completed in three or four terms of
full-time study, or part time over the course of three or
four summers. Students may also enroll in the program on a
part-time basis and take up to seven years to complete the
program.
Course work in the TESOL Programs blends theory and practice
in order to best prepare students for careers in teaching
worldwide. Students learn theories about the teaching of
English as a second or foreign language in the classroom.
They apply what they have learned by working directly with
ESOL students at Saint Michael's, with immigrants and
refugees in the Burlington area, or with children in the
Vermont school system. Graduate students may also take
courses and do practice teaching at pre-approved sites in
other countries.
